Sean Harvey - Managing Director

Formerly a Navigation Officer in the Merchant Navy, Sean came ashore in 1980 and joined Derrick Offshore. Elected as a member of the Baltic Exchange in 1981, four years later he was appointed a Director of Derrick Offshore with overall responsibility for the subsea sector of the offshore support vessel market.

In 1987, Sean spearheaded Derrick Offshore's move into the submarine telecom cable installation and maintenance markets which became a significant growth sector for the company. 1993 saw him elected as a member of the Society for Underwater Technology as well as developing the company's Russian joint venture with J P Kenny Group, Intershelf Marine Limited (IML). During this year Sean was appointed as a Director of IML, with responsibility for managing Moscow operations.

Sean was promoted to Commercial Director of Derrick Offshore in 1999 having developed a reputation as the industry's leading specialist in chartering, sale & purchase and newbuilding of dynamically positioned subsea support vessels in both the offshore energy and submarine cable industries.

In January 2002 he led a management buyout of Derrick Offshore and was appointed Managing Director. He has since pioneered the growth of Derrick Offshore through the establishment of Optimum Marine Technology in July 2003 and the opening an Aberdeen office in May 2006.

Sean has a wide range of interests including fly-fishing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, shooting and cars and motorcycles.
