Phil Stringer - Managing Director (Optimar)
Throughout his career in the Marine industry spanning 37 years, Phil Stringer the Managing Director of Optimum Marine Technology (Optimar) has held several senior posts.
Most recently Phil was Projects Director for A&P, one of Europe's largest Conversion and Ship repair companies, where the extent of his responsibilities, at the six dry-docks owned by A&P on the Tyne, ranged from the Tender stage through to redelivery of the vessel to the Shipowner.
Formerly he was the Engineering Director of Global Marine Systems Limited (previously Cable & Wireless Marine Limited) and was responsible for the Purchase, Sale and Conversion of the Global Marine fleet. There he led a multi-disciplined team covering Naval Architecture, Marine, Electrical and Sub-Sea Engineering.
During a two year period from 2000 to 2002 the Global Marine fleet size was doubled from 12 to 24 ships involving capital expenditure in excess of £200M and included two new state of the art DP Cableships.
These two posts coupled with his 10 years at Lloyd's Register of Shipping and 10 years at Swan Hunter Shipbuilders gives him an all round knowledge and perspective of the Marine industry.
Phil is a keen football fan and also likes the occasional round of golf.
