JB-114 finishes Work on Lincs Wind Farm

The Jack-Up “JB-114” heads into Hartlepool having finished installation works on Lincs wind farm. The vessel started works on the wind farm at the beginning of the year; initially, she was mobilised with a Dutch drilling rig before supporting installation of transition pieces. She can be seen here being assisted by the ‘MarineCo Toomai’ and ‘Iskes Triton’.

JB-114The Jack-Up will now head to work for Van Oord on the Teeside wind farm.

Are these Subsea Vessel orders set to continue?

Since late last year and into this year there have seen increasingly positive feelings surrounding the offshore and subsea markets and we are now starting to see the consequences of those early rumblings. Over the past few months we have seen at least a dozen orders for new vessels, particularly focussed around the subsea market and almost all the orders have been placed at Norwegian yards. Since Volstad placed an order at Bergen yards for an ST-259 design in February at a cost of NOK 800 million (USD 139 million), many other companies have been following suit and placing orders themselves bringing the total value of subsea orders placed to almost USD 1.5 billion. Many of these orders will have been gestating over the past year or so and the short delivery times on some of these orders indicates that the yards had anticipated the increase in demand and started preparing slots in advance.
